PLEASE Watch! Beware of Scammers

I just wanted to take a minute today to warn you about a scam involving somebody impersonating me on Craigslist.

It came to my attention today that somebody claiming to be me has been running ads on Craigslist telling people to send “me” money so that they can rent out a property.

Number one: it goes without saying that this person is not me. Secondly, we don’t rent properties, we sell them! That’s all that we do. Finally, nobody should ever send money to anybody in order to rent a property if they have never seen it.

This is actually a new version of an old scam. About a year ago, a few clients contacted me in the span of about 60 days alerting me to something similar.

Some con artist decided to run Craigslist ads of my vacant home listings. This scammer would pull information from my listings and offer much lower rent on the property than what it would otherwise rent for, making up a sob story about how the owners of the home were a family of missionaries that needed to move to Africa and wanted to rent their home to a nice family. This thief would then ask for rent money in advance, and anybody that obliged would never see that money again. This happened many times over.

If you hear of anybody talking about renting a property from somebody that they’ve never met who is offering it to them at a price below market value, please tell them not to give this person money. Remember what your parents told you: if it’s too good to be true, then it probably is.

If you’re interested in buying or selling a property with the real Greg Sisson, please give me a call or send me an email. I’d be happy to help you!
