There are some exciting new developments coming to the Grand Strand, and I want to highlight three of them for you today.
First of all, the old Chapin Library is moving from its current location to 9th Avenue and Nance Plaza. There will be a lot of new businesses around 9th and Nance, including a new Adventure Children’s Museum. The current Children’s Museum is near the old Myrtle Square Mall site, so it will be moving along with the library.
Broadway at the Beach is a staple of Myrtle Beach that opened in 1985. They are doing some revamping in that area. There will be a new Paula Deen restaurant and a Dave & Busters will replace the old Hard Rock Cafe, which has already been demolished. However, there is a new Hard Rock Cafe in Myrtle Beach — just look for the awesome guitar out front.
Wahlburgers is also part of the new lineup at Broadway at the Beach. I have already been there and it’s a really good burger joint. As you probably guessed from the name, Wahlburgers is owned by actor Mark Wahlberg and his brothers. American Tap House will open this spring, so there is a lot going on at Broadway at the Beach.
Finally, you probably remember Baytree, the classic golf course on Highway 9 that closed in 2005 to make way for home builders. However, the market changed and the project was abandoned. Baytree was purchased in June of 2015 by a developer out of Virginia Beach for $9.25 million. Those 530 acres will be turned into 1,500 homes and the community will even have a 19-acre park.
There is a lot to look forward to here in Myrtle Beach. If you have any questions about these new developments or about our current real estate market, just give me a call or send me an email. I would be happy to help you!
